In this class, we will go through copying of illustrative works with laying out your drawing, using watercolor and pen and ink to tell the story you are painting. We will go through laying in the drawing, line quality and hatching techniques in ink, and laying in paint and more.

Class is sequential, building upon the previous.

In depth study of values, handling the pencil/paintbrush, paper/canvas surfaces, pencil/paint preparation, gradating, and various drawing & painting methods, and much more! Whether a beginner or someone looking to take the next steps, there is certain to be something to pick up in this class and hone in your skills.

Class is sequential and will build upon the previous, students continuing growth until advancing into the intermediate/advanced class.

This class is recommended for someone with prior experience looking to further hone in their skills.

A drawing class for all levels, first timers to experienced craftsmen. This class is designed to develop as well as sharpen drawing ability and technique, and will feature using the Charles Bargue method. Charles Bargue was a French artist in the mid to late 19th century, who composed an easier way to learn to draw by drawing copies from casts and lithographs, before drawing directly from nature, which can be more challenging. Experienced artists can still explore and gain a lot from these. We will use one of his drawings to draw from as we talk about sight size method (or relative for advanced students) light/shadow, values (gradients of light to dark), lines, accuracy of drawing, proportion, pencil handling, and so much more.

Basic understanding of limited palette and full palette with use of either for exercises. These exercises will comprise of two hour sessions painting simplistic drawings to expand your vision of color to apply in your own paintings. Color studies quick studies that are the basis for developing your color composition before a final painting is begun.

This class is sequential and builds upon the previous class, further developing your skills.
